MOBEN KITCHENS
Read Consumer Comments Here

Moben came to fit a kitchen in jan 03 it is still not finished. my mother is absolutly passed herself with stress and is on verge of a nervous breakdown . The list of problems is too great to mention but for the last six weeks we have had no running water at all in the kitchen. Moben sent a valve to fix the water, we are not plumbers. The cooker has now decided it doesnt want to work, we do not have floor in the kitchen as we keep having to cancel the tiller. The situation is bad we have contacted trading standards who dont seem to be able to do anything?? Lucy Wilgaus ... 23 July2003

Well where do we start?
we originally had Moben to come and give us a quote in Jan 30th 2003 but they rang at the last minute to cancel the appointment. At 10am the following monday morn 3rd Feb the salesman came,he arranged for the surveyor to come on 28th feb which they did one of which was a trainee who the surveyor let take all the measurements!!! we believed that they knew what they were doing! We arranged for the kitchen to be delivered on 12th March, we were surprised that the van driver needed the whole amount!! ... Whilst I cannot comment on un-seen work , I feel I have to take issue with your fitter comments..We applied to work for Moben as a fitting team, allthough we did not join them because of there booking of work policy. We found there there fitters induction course at Manchester to be very thourough, possibly one of the best. We have 20 plus years experience in kitchen fitting and wuld gladly work for Moben under different booking arrangements.. Please remember having a new kitchen is a major event in youf life & its so easy to find problems..

Stumbled to site whilst trying to locate Dolphin for my new bathroom, and Moben for kitchen, looks like I've been saved 20k worth of pain. Thank you to all who submitted to this site, hope you get things sorted, and you find some comfort in the knowledge that they have lost another customer.

I comment as the owner of a completely independant kitchen manufacturer and installer. To anybody considering a new kitchen, please heed the following tips:-
1. Always use a local company.
2. Try and get a recommendation,ask around.
3. Do not pay in advance for the installatiion work even if it is supposed to be free fitting. (Fitters do not work for free, so who pays ?). Do not enter into a contract that has no provision for a final payment due on completion. You will get a better service if you still owe money.
4.Please be aware that installing a new fitted kitchen is not a simple job. There are no magic wands. Do not believe salesmen that make easy promises that the work will be done in 2-3 days. If it is, is unlikely to have been done very well.
5. Try the KBSA web site as a start point.
These points maybe obvious but I hope of some help. All of us in the industry with any integrity, regret when things go wrong (it tends to paint us all with the same brush). There is no reason why a new kitchen should go wrong; deal with a reputable local company. Brian Cookson ... 14 October 2003

To: Mr.D Blissett
From: Igor & Vladimir

I have just read your complaint about us. I am writing to express my opinion about it published in this website:

First of all, I would like to remind you how it was happened and I would also like to tell you - Write TRUTH. Please!
1. "They had no idea whatsoever how to fit a kitchen. After working 5 12 hour days all they managed to achieve was assembling 3 base units and 3 worktops!"

As you remember, we started on Tuesday. We found out 3 different types of kitchen and 4 worktops. Just one was suitable. We order one more. On Wednesday we received green worktop (wrong color) instead of cream color, which you had chosen. Than we had to order 2 green more. As you remember on Friday we got 2 cream worktops, but we supposed to receive green ones. Fortunately, you told us, that you finally like cream color. That why it was slowly. You could understand. We installed gas with hob, electricity, almost pluming, and duck out. A problem was you did not give us time to finish fix all water system.

2. "They told us they were carpenters and did not really know about plumbing or electrics".

Socket’s w/m, hob, hood – have done.
Light’s switch, switch 45A cooker – have done
We did it with British standard (Ring Main). If I do not know how to install it, I would never tell you about it…. I would grateful to you if could remember, who had changed main water tap…

3. "When we challenged them as to how much longer it would take their reply was that they may get it finished if they work till 2am and 11pm the next day. They also said that our kind of kitchen even though it is tiny could take maybe 2 to 3 weeks"

I have a good memory. I still do not remember we can tell you it takes maybe 2-3 weeks. (It makes me laughing). We told you on Saturday it takes 1 day more (very clear). We understood, that you have decided to kick us out before Saturday, we could not assemble covering box for boiler, we had clearances required (gas/ boiler specification sheet). We told you that we would cover only gas pipes, but you could not accepted …

P.S
We hope you have a nice kitchen and best design. We still have good clients who like our job.
Best Regards. Igor.....9 November 2002

To Igor,

I will not comment on your reply as you obviously do not talk to your partner Vladimir.5 days work for what you did is disgraceful.Funny how Moben eventually got a Mr Mike Parker in to finish the job.He finished the rest of the kitchen in 7 hours and was courteous and efficient.

Funny that isnt it!!!

Just a quick note to say that our half finished kitchen was completed this Saturday 9/11.
The fitter Mike Parker had to be called out all the way from Chichester. He did a fantastic job for us and mentioned that it would only have taken him 3 days to have fitted our kitchen from scratch.Mind you he had to rectify a lot of faults that our previous "fitters" had managed to bodge like none of the electrics working for example.

We are now awaiting for satisfactory compensation from Moben otherwise we shall take the matter further. We will let you know when we do.

To Igor & Vladimir,

Why are you looking at this complaints site if you are reliable fitters? Do you have a guilty conscience or something to hide?

To Igor & Vladimir,

I am sure you will remember us as we remember you 2 very well.Mr Blissett & myself have been in contact and we have witnessed his half finished kitchen. Why are you saying that you have fitted all these things when you clearly have not. All we saw were 3 fitted worktops.Maybe its best to tell the truth in future.

Do you remember how;

1)You screwed up the plumbing on our property and left us without any running water for 2 days?

2)How you somehow managed to fit the extractor hood on UPSIDE DOWN?

3)How our plumbing leaks?

4)How we cannot even open our oven door.

5)Plus all the other faults condemned by the inspector.

It also amazes me to see you replying to Mr Blissett on this website. Why would confident "kitchen fitters" be looking through a complaints website. Hmmmm very odd!

Anyone else who orders a Moben kitchen insist on competent fitters only.
