ordered a mini hifi system AIW-XREM50 & were sent
2 identical systems & our acct was debited for both systems. Still
awaiting collection of surplus system, plus refund Margaret Southam...21

Why on earth I didn't think of checking for other
complaints before I used this bunch I don't know. I have
had a plasma screen TV sitting in it's box for over a month awaiting wall
brackets that they have told me twice were in the Leeds warehouse waiting
to be shipped, yet last week they told me I had to wait whilst they ordered
some from the manafacturer. They are a bunch of XXXX weasels - does anyone
know anywhere else I can voice my complaint?!

problem with them myself but have you reported this to Which?...viz the
Consumers Assoc? ...no excuses but I dare say ED is suffering from their
own success.. got out of control....

I too have had problems with empire
direct, I had ordered a av receiver they told me it would
be delivered within 2-3 days.Guess what? after a week nothing came, so
i phoned them and asked for a refund, still nothing after 1 week. I cant
advise anyone to purchase from them :(

Well I thought I was the only unfortunate person
to receive such disgraceful service from empire direct.
I ordered a Toshiba tv around the 3rd December 2002. I notice the tv on
there web site and thought what a good price. I contacted empire direct
by phone to place my order. The order was confirmed and I paid £730.
I was advised by the sales person that they has 6 of these units in stock,
as they had just come in. I thought great.
The sales person said that I would receive the tv on the 11 December 2002
and would receive a call to confirm the time. No call was received. I
contacted empire direct to find out what was happening. A representative
informed me that no order had been placed. There computer was showing
4 tv but there was none in stock. The rep said he would send an email
to the warehouse and that i would receive a call that day - no call was
received. I contacted them again to find out what was happening. A rep
confirmed apologised and said no order had been made dispite me qiving
an order ref.
I spoke to a manager to air my deep digust. I found the manager rude and
condesending. The manager gave me two options 1 wait till january for
my order 2 refund the money. I opted for aa refund as i just wanted to
terminate any involvment with company.
The manager said it would take three days to foward my money although
i paid by credit card. I said to the manager, you have taken £730
for goods you did not possess. Surley this is illegal trading. When I
ask for my money to paid sooner, his reply was i,m sure youv'e got more
than £730 to buy a tv- well I was furious at this and just demanded
by money. Sorry its a bit long but good grief is this what internet shopping
is realy like?
