DIXONS

I work for dixons and if the phone the customer purchased was "broken" (use your imagination water damage, accidently run over by a car etc) you will have your phone written off. Which in turn you would receive a voucher to the value of the handset unconnected,-not the subsidised price of a connected handst,- to buy a new phone. Which if you then purchased a pay and go sim card could be used as well or be given to a friend or relative as a present.

I too have had an ongoing problem with coverplan for almost a year. my washer was unrepairable, they advised me to purchase another and i would receive a refund for this. In December I purchased a machine for £400 plus £198 for further breakdown cover. I have written to managing director numerous amounts of times. have telephoned and e-mailed but the same - no response. its ridiculous. terrible customer service.

I have just looked at the above complaint regarding Coverplan Insurance. I too had the same problem with The Link, they refused to refund me my insurance, when I did not upgrade my phone through them.

However, another problem has arisen in which my sister's mobile phone was stolen. She had a an insurance with Coverplan and when she informed them of how she lost the phone i.e. not realising she had left it on the table at a coffee shop (when she thought it was in her bag) obviously upon realising it was missing she went back to the coffee shop but no one owned up to seeing it.

She then contacted Coverplan and received a letter a week later stating that it was lost through her own negligence and that they will not be replacing the phone. I do not understand the point of having insurance if when it comes to paying out Coverplan will try and wiggle their way out of it.

On your coverplan policy it does state quite clearly u are not covered for loss. If you leave you phone on a table then u have not taken due care and do not deserve a pay out. If u left £50 on a table would you expect to file it as stolen i think not. TAKE CARE OF UR THINGS!!!!!

I purchased a mobile from the Link and was sold Insurance at the same time.
As the mobile was expensive i thought it was a wise decision as it only cost £3.99 per month. The mistake i made was when the DD was due i had taken all funds out of account as i forgot but also Coverplan never sent me any literature reg my plan so i was charged £30 by bank which is fair enough as i did not have any funds in account but since then coverplan have tried to take the money another 2 times without advising me so i now owe the bank £90 for a £3.99 DD.When i call Coverplan and EVENTUALLY got through i was fobbed off and told to put request in writing but by looking at some of the comments here that would be a waste of time.Any ideas?

When you got through to coverplan did they tell you they only attempt to take the payments three times?
Did you tell coverplan you werent intending to pay the dd? and does the coverplan state that you get a refund if you purchase a mobile at another store? Liquid damage is always worth an unbiased opinion not from the within the mobile trade, i've known the carphone warehouse settle due to dirty solder being used in a phone that showed up as liquid damage, but after an indepth report was deemed to be dirt solder.

I have had very similar problems, but much worse from the point of view of poor customer service. I have been lied to, ignored and passed around between incompetent departments for months. I have recieved a refund but the amount is £27 short with no valid explanation why. Repeated enquiries have met with an obstinate and disinterested response.
