In
similar position claim rejected for refund of £399.99p.
Sent cheque for £200 'purely as a goodwill gesture' despite being
told by Landmark Insurance Co Ltd vice chairman that Comet had failed
to input the data from some 600 Certificate of insurance registration
slips.
Comet aware of this problem regarding my details since Aug 2000.

I have yet to recieve my refund of 139.99
for an unused warranty.
I sent the correspondence to the address supplied including all the relevent
documents but nothing has been sent.
All i want is my refund which after all was forced onto me at the start
and now have waited 5 years to reclaim my money of which i regret spending
all those years back. Chris porter...8 November 2002

I am having big problems with Comet at

look at it now...

I bought a television set from comet
stores in bolton last august/september 02 within a matter of a few weeks
the television set broke down. I requested a replacement,
which i was refused and was told they wont replace electrical goods once
they have been purchased only repair them. This i wasnt happy about and
felt i had to accept there other option which was to have it repaired,
they id say to me that if it breakes down three times and is the same
problem as the first they will replace it.
I then asked what if it has ran out of guarantee and is the same problem
again, they then said they will still replace it even if it has ran out
of the guarantee and is the same problem. Well would you believe it, it
broke own again and i spoke to a Ms L H at the service station at bolton
and suprise suprise they refused to replace or repair without costs to
me or my ex wife.
I spoke to trading standards who said whether it has ran out of guarantee
or not if it is a manufacturers problem and it is still breaking down
out of the guarantee time then comet are responsible as they never repaired
the problem at the begining.
I then spoke to Ms LH at bolton again who then asked me for the number
of the trading standards and name, I get the feeling that i wasnt being
believed.
what ever happened to customer relations obviously comet dont seem to
know what it means, and i will be very reluctant indeed of buying anything
again from comet or recomending anyone to them, lets hope no one asks
me.

I await £199 for unused insurance also.
I followed the procedure exactly, kept all records and sent the originals
to them by special delivery (keeping good copies). I have had no response
to either the original claim OR the reminder I sent last week - hence
my visit to this site. If anyone has successfully claimed their money
for a similar scheme I would like to know how they managed it, at the
moment small claims court is looking favourite.

I've had a similar experience with the insurance
redemption; they are claiming that I was not the original purchaser
as their records do not have the same initial as the redemption form (surname
and address match!) Clearly they are trying to avoid payments by fabricating
lies, hoping customers will give up. I for one won't, I'll see them in
court if need be! Adrian Lea ... 23 May 2003

I had a video player purchased from COMET.
It broke down a day out of the 4-week replacement guarantee. They
would only send it for repair. Four weeks later it was returned to me.
When played it was still faulty and was subsequently returned for repair
yet again. After another four weeks I requested a refund or a replacement
but was refused by the local store and the head office who were very rude.
The video was returned to me after another couple of weeks but was found
to be severely damaged (casing), when opened in the shop. A replacent
was refused yet again and off the video went for repair again.
At the end of my tether, I took COMET to the small claims court and won.
I recieved a full refund, plus court costs plus compensation, the original
video was £80, it ended up costing COMET £200.
If not satisfied do not hesitate in taking COMET to the small claims court,
it is very easy and you dont need a solicitor.

I would like to start a consumer watch against a
company called unclaimedfunds.org.
I checked this site out, because it lured me in thinking that I was owed
money by some entity. Turns out that not me, or any of my friend or relatives
(I search no fewer than 50 names where actually owed anything, but on
the outside (of paying for the service) they were owed. Be advised that
this is a hoax, and please don't fall into the trap I did and actually
pay these people, they don't give refunds for any reason.

I sent a money back voucher for unused warranty
to comet STILL waiting for a reply. i feel very let down by
comet. i did keep the details writen down in case there was a problem
as i had heard of people not getting their money back, i couldn't photocopy
the policy details as they were so faint. why offer this service if you
have no intension of paying people back!
