I was unluckly to have a winning bid on auction world
on 14/10/03 it was such poor the guide price of 185 must have had the point in the wrong place should read 1.85p. it was picked up by parcel force on 28/10/03 and i was told it would be with them the following day.so far so good!

I started ringing them in november to find out when i would get a refund . i got it to ring once held on for 20 mins costing me more money and then line went dead.

after reading the complaints on this site i will contact my c/card company first thing in the norning.I will update if they can help me. if not see them in court.

Auctionworld really sucks.
Here are some of the complaints I have:

(1) their abtoner belt advertised at a guide of £30 and sold off generally around £20 is available in an Everything £1 shop in Stockport.Exact same one.

(2)The small lapis globes claimed at £130 (I paid £60) is also in the Pound Emporium shop in Stockport for £5.99. I sent it back for refund (it was damaged anyway) and after 12 weeks am still waiting for the refund.

(3) A mantle clock I ordered came after 3 weeks delay. When it came it was the wrong one and was smashed into a hundred pieces. This was returned for replacement with the correct one. 12 weeks later, I am still waiting.

(4) A Ben Sherman watch which was advertised at £80 and I paid £30 for one, is availablle widely in 3 shops I have seen for £9.99p.

(5) An Aston gerard watch I paid £105 for was broken in 3 places but they wouldn't do anything about it. I was told (contrary to my consumer rights and the law of contract) to go to Aston gerard for attention. They have refused to take any responsibility saying AW are responsible. AW now say its out of the 21 days return policy time. For obvious reasons, Auction World are now banned from my remote control. Tony Craggs ... 18 July 2003

I purchased a TFT computer with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
When it arrived it came with a conventional keyboard and mouse. I was asked to sent it back and a replacement would be sent with the correct keyboard and mouse. When I enquired where the replacement was, I was told that none were available as the suppliers had not supplied these particular computers with the wireless system.

Auction world admit they do have wireless keyboards and mouse in stock but will not send one as this will split the new batch. I asked for a total replacement of the system so I could have a wireless keyboard and mouse. This was refused. I was told that i could sent the entire system back, be refunded and bid again for a new computer. They are undoubtely in breach of contract and their own terms and conditons namely point 10.3.

I bid and won the auction for a Lapis globe.
Unfortunately the globe was faulty and was returned to Auction World on 21 August they would not send a replacement but that I would have to bid again. However, 3 weeks later and 3 phone calls later, I am still waiting for my Visa card to be credited. I believe this is very poor and wonder how much longer I will have to wait before I get my money back? I will definitely not be shopping with them again!!

I watch this channel simply for fun.
It is generally acknowledged that their so called guide prices are 3 times the price you can expect to pay in the shops.
Also notice how their goods are 'exclusive' to them, why?, simple, so that you can't make a simple price comparison between thei 'guide' price and an Argos catalogue (yes Aston Gerard do have a website but I bet it was created by Auction World to give their guide price some credibility).

They keep selling the same old useless stuff over and over again with guarantee's that are not worth the paper they are written on to people who perhaps have stumbled on that channel by mistake and are now making a purchase on impulse.

Reading some of the contributions here, Its obvious that they don't always send successfull bidders the goods shown during the auction.

Enterprises of this kind (I include bid-up.tv and others) give the punters the illusion of a 'bargain', take their money and treat them with contempt if they complain. Once they got your money, you'll have to go to hell and back to get any after sale support of any kind. I understand that some of them don't even have a telephone number to call.

Good fun to watch ... but don't even think about calling their premium rate number .... you will regret it. Mike Hodman.. 12 September 2003

I recently purchased a loose diamond for 1200 against a guide price of 7650.
On taking the same to a local jeweller for setting I was told not to bother as the setting would be worth more than the diamond - which in his opinion was worth 500 max. I feel really cheated and have subsequently returned the diamond.Whilst on the subject of guide prices, Costco at Watford were recently selling 330 mm Lapis Globes for 56!

I was sucessful in bidding for a loose diamond for 2000.00...guide price 19000 odd pounds
and although I cannot remember excatly the CT it was advertised at over 1 CT I do know that...I waited over two weeks for the product and it arrived this morning 09/12/03 but when I opened the package, they have sent me a 0.63 CT diamond guide price 10310.00 but have still charged me 2000. When I telephoned and spoke to a customer adviser, first he had trouble in finding a diamond with the original guide price but when he did, I was told out of stock we will refund. The point I am making, they have sent me a lesser diamond hopeing I would not notice.

Spent ages trying to get through on telephone [ IN ADDITION TO SENDING 3 FAXES-ALL WENT UNANSERWED ] By other means established that the goods were sent by parcel force but could not deliver to my address [ no answer ]Then established that AUCTION WORLD had sent them to the wrong address- house number should be 55 NOT 35 - no wonder Parcel Force could not deliver.
Have tried to contact AUCTION WORLD AGAIN either to get my money back OR for the goods to be delivered to the correct address- MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IN TRYING TO MAKE CONTACT.Can anybody assist?

I have the same problem. I purchased a Beverley Hills gift set on the 2nd Dec 03, charged to my C/C, and on the 24th Dec 03, i'm still waiting.
Have tried on at least 500 times to contact this organisation, phone constantly engaged. Even tried all other options email / fax, and on the odd occassion when I have even rang the number for the people who call you when you are a sucessful bidder, they claim it's nothing to do with them. They even claimed that I did'nt exsist! Surprise suprise, when i have spent well over 1000.00 with them so far.

One thing I can tell you they wont be getting any more business. I will be using Bid-Up TV instead, their items might not be as good depedning on your taste but at least they keep their promises.

Merry Christmas Auction World TV, have a drink on me, well you have my money, dont you. Will wait to hear back from you via my solictor.
