Dear E Calli,

Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.

With an O2 Online tariff, we offer free text messaging as a benefit to
our customers, subject to contract or reasonable, personal use.
However, we reserve the right to withdraw these free services should
we deem the usage of this service to be excessive. For example, a
constant stream of messages, during a prolonged period of the day,
would not be deemed reasonable. We constantly monitor the usage levels
of these free services and we will let you know if we feel that
excessive use is occurring.

If I may refer you to our terms and conditions of service which do
state that we reserve the right to restrict free SMS (text messaging)
and/or WAP access (via shortcode 915000) to reasonable personal use,
as determined by us, acting reasonably, from time to time.

In this particular instance, we have not suspended the text messaging
service, but have placed a limit on the amount of free text messages
available to you each month. We felt that this offered a more amicable
resolution as the number of sms sent exceeded the average amount that
is usual within our customer base.

Please note: Free text messaging does NOT apply to text messages sent
from your O2 phone, whilst abroad. These will be charged at the rate
applicable for the country you are visiting.

For the purposes of your free SMS/WAP minutes, from mid-September 2002, you will have been allocated an "Anniversary Start" date.

Your Anniversary Start date is the date on which your 30 days free
SMS/WAP allowance restarts, and we will send you a text message 4 days
before this date, reminding you to add credit in the next couple of
days.

IMPORTANT NOTE
For your SMS to restart on your Anniversary Start date, you need to top
up at least 48 hours in advance. For example, if your Anniversary Start
date is the 26th January, you would need to top up at least 48 hours
before, eg on the 24th January. If you have topped up already since
you last Anniversary Date, there is no need to top up again unless your
credit runs low.

We cannot specify a time on your start date when the SMS will be reset,
therefore, please do not be alarmed if the allowances are not reset
until the evening.

If you do not top up 48 hours before your "Anniversary Start" date, the
free SMS and WAP allowances will be removed. You must then add credit
to reactivate your free SMS/WAP allowances, at which point, the
allowances will usually take 48 hours to be reset. If you decide not
to top up, you simply need to make or receive 3 calls in each 90 day
period for your SIM card to remain connected. In the event of no usage
over a 9 month period, we reserve the right to disconnect your SIM, and
any credit will be forfeit.

Please also note that the free SMS/WAP allowances cannot be used if
there is no credit on your mobile.
