Town & Country Installations are a total disgrace and we would
advise ANYONRE thinking of using them just to leave before it is too
late. These people are simply awful to deal with and they have left
us with a dangerous pedestrian access and no vehicular access at all
for the last 12 weeks. They have demolished the wheelchair access platform
at the front of the house but because they have abandoned the site as
it is, Mr Anderson's disbled Mother has not been able to visit us because
there is no wheelchair access now. The peole at their admin office are
rude, incompetent and simply do not care about all the trauma they have
inflicted on us as one of their customers. We are left with no choice
now other than to sue them for breach of contract and for specific performance
/ damages.
We signed a contract with them in December 2002 and in June 2004 we
are still waiting for them to finish the works. Only 4 weeks after we
signed the contract our builder who was erecting the double garage to
which the new driveway and turning circle wasa to lead, pinted out that
the plans drawn up by Town & country were wrong in that they had
not allowed enough room for us to turn a car around. We tried to get
them back to site to re measure and re quote but they procrastinated
so much that it was not until Auguist 2003 that they finally made the
effort to get a surveyor back to site. He was actually very professional
and he made the necessary changes to the plan, the managing director,
Stephen Oulton agreed a reduction of £950 in view of the delay.
In September we received a letter from them apologising to all customers
for the delays which were allegedly due to high Summer temperatures
and the fact that they had spent a lot of time working towards the ISO
9001 accreditation! But then followed months of procrastination, ignoring
our phone calls and letters and breaking promises to us. Ms JM,
the "Installations Manager" has been the main culprit in failing
to deal with this but we have also sent letters to the directors as
well which have been ignored.
The company promised to do our installation in the cooler months of
2003. They did not turn up to site until two weeks before Easter, they
did only 4 days work and then they diappeared. What they did was about
only half the preparation work required and they have left us with both
driveways dug up and unusable, the wide steps which we had at the front
of the house, and which were the wheelchair access platform, have been
removed leaving us with a thin cracked concrete base which is inmpossible
for a wheelchair to use.
3 weeks ago Ms JM had promised us that the installation team
would be with us week commencing 14th June, after the foreman had come
back from holiday, but needless to say no one has turned up. Juie Morris
has failed to return 3 phone calls this week, the office answerphone
is on far too often durng working hours and we are not convinced that
Town & Country will come back to site at all now. We think the work
is too hard for them and they will not admit that they cannot cope with
it. We are about to send a Letter Before Action.
Another point aganist them is that the company search shows the directors'
addresses as being the trading address when it should be their own home
addresses. Are they trying to hide? If they will not reply to letters
sent to their office address maybe they will react to ones sent to thier
home addresses if we can find them?
Can anyone please advise on the best way to sort out this problem with
Town & Country Installations without us having to incur large amounts
of legal costs?
Mr N J Anderson & Mrs B S Anderson
