The warranty indicates that if the item is deemed not worth repairing during the term of the warranty, Comet will replace it with a model having the same functions. If this cannot be done then they will give a voucher to the value of the original item OR a cash payment for the market value (which is defined in a separate part of the policy as the original value less 10% per year). At a guess they will offer the latter option, which being half the
original value may not be acceptable to us. Strangely there is nothing in the policy to say how the choice of the last 2 options will be determined.
On reading the conditions of the policy at the time of purchase you might gain the impression that a total breakdown would result in receiving the
full value in cash or vouchers if a similar model was not available.

Needless to say we have not yet heard from the so called "Insurance Company"

According to the policy document it is a "Comet five star supercover extended warranty"
Apparently any queries about the policy should be directed to;

Comet 5 Star Supercover Office
152-158 Northolt Rd
Harrow
Middx
HA2 0EA
Tel No 0870 4003320

To quote the policy ................... "If not satisfied then you can write to"

Landmark Insurance Company
The AIG Building
2-8 Altyre Rd
Croydon
Surrey
CR9 2LG

The Warranty Administrator is Aon Warranty Group Ltd (same address as Comet 5 Star Supercover) By the look of it Aon is probably a subsidiary of Comet and also the so called Insurance Company.

Thanks again for all your efforts. I have been particularly impressed by your grasp of the issues involved and your prompt updates. It really does
worry me that a single mum or dad, elderly or disabled person relying on this sort of policy could find themselves in serious difficulty if this
happened to them. What is more I do not believe that they would receive any more help than we did from Comets so called Customer Service Staff.

I will continue to promote your site at every opportunity and drop in on a regular basis to add my views to other issues. I very much doubt that this
is the end of this particular case and will update you soon

Michael.
