Bad service!
I can't use my cable modem,and I call the free number: nobody answers me.
I don't know what to do now. I recieved a bill from ntl and I don't use cable modem at all!

Oh, dear. Mr. Wilton's experiences fill me with a dark foreboding.
I have just started my relationship with ntl and have already come across the unreasonably lengthy waits for them to answer the phone, as well their inability to get billing matters anywhere near correct.
In summary, I have filled in a direct debit form for their cable modem service and they yet keep billing me as if I had not.

I have had a similar experience in trying to get NTL to accept cancelation. They seem to be desperate and will try and keep on billing regardless - extraordinary!

24/11/01 Home number changed to new one. Phoned NTL to complain (they said someone had moved in nearby and an engineer had conected the phoneline to mine by mistake)
26/11/01 Engineercame out. Original home number returned but unable to dial out /receive
incoming calls.
27/11/01 Phoned NTL. Engineer came out. Problem not fixed.
28/11/01 Phoned NTL. Told phone could be fixed remotely, would be done by end of day
29/11/01 Phoned NTL phone still not working.Engineer due for visit pm- didn't turn up
30/11/01 Phoned NTL phone still not working. Engineer due for visit pm-didn't turn up
3/12/ 01 Phoned NTL 1st call got cut off after holding for 30 mins, 2nd time cut off after holding for 20 mins. Third call got through, was told visits of 29/11+30/11 were cancelled by the Faults dep (wasn’t told) as they thought my phone line wasn't live! They said they could fix the problem remotely by turning the switch.
3/12/01 9pm Received call from NTL (on my mobile) to ask if phone was now working - no it is still not working. Man on phone said he would tell Faults department
4/12/01 Still no phone.
Ive now given up and have arranged for a BT install in one week. There service is absolutely useless
PS my bills have also been incorrect for the last 5 months-I was changed 9 voicemails in one bill yet I've only one phoneline!

Im on the phone now to NTL again. Yet another problem, this time the smart card wont let me watch anything, I have been on the phone already for 30mins with this stupid volin music. No wonder they announced today another 2K job loss

I have been trying to resolve a comlaint with NTL for nerly a year. i have not paid them since february in the vain hope that this would persuade them to take it seriously. This has had non effect, i too have written to Barclay Kemp without success. I believe NTL's attitude to its cutomers is quite frankly disgusting.

In June 2001 I had asked for Sky Sports to be activated on my ntl package. I only wanted it for one month, and ntl said they had put a note on my file for it to be cancelled after that period. In the past, when I asked for Sky Sports for a month it had been cancelled automaticaly after that period, so I assumed that it had been cancelled.

Today I noticed that there was a charge of £16-00 for Sky Sports. I called ntl and asked them why I was being charged for a channel I did not watch and did not know I had even. After nearly an hour on the phone, they still insisted that I would have to pay £16 per month for a channel I did not want and did not even know I had a subscription to. They insisted I would not be getting any refund (£90-00 over five months).

£90-00 is a tiny amount for me, but I think it is totally unfair to expect me to pay for a channel I did not even know I had.

Until now I have thought very highly of ntl, and have been using a lot of their services. Following their disgraceful response, I immediately cancelled the additional channel I was subscribed to and have moved to their basic channel. From now, I will not use their services any more than I need to.

ntl may have have won this time, but in the long term, they will lose out additional income from. In addition, they have caused ill will with someone who, over the years has spent hundreds of pounds with them.
