My husband bought me
a dress in Marks and spencer as a Birthday present, I
liked the dress very much and wore it with pride!!!! a month later I
noticed that the zip was getting some what hard to do up, it kept catching
on the material!! then suddenly I could no longer wear the dress as
the zip had broken !
Today being the 16.8.03 I took the dress back to my Brighton
branch where I live I was told by a member of staff that I
should go to choose something else before I went to customer services
I did I chose other items in the shop (underwear) and then decided to
make up the difference and buy some food I was then told by another
member of staff to take the dress with the broken zip to the food department
as they will sort it all out there, this I did then I was told the dress
had gone down in price by £15. I was then told yet again to go
back to customer services and speak to another marks and spencers assistant
so there I was with my husband and my three children all getting tired
and fed up leaving my food shopping with the woman at the till by this
time now my shopping had been left in the bags yes some frozen for half
an hr ....
I was then told by a very rude assistant that I could only have £15
back as the dress had gone on sale!!! I even offered to bring in my
bank statement but the rude assistant told me " you have had the
dress 2 months" what are they saying " A MARKS AND SPENCER
DRESS" should only last 2 months???? some how I thought and have
always thought that clothes from marks and spencers are meant to be
made of good quality......
My husband then asked to speak to the manager of the shop of which a
young boy came down to my surprise I thought " is this the Manager
a young boy with a earring at the top of his ear...in some shops young
men and woman are told to put a plaster over the earring. I and my husband
had no luck from the manager either, meanwhile the shopping we had bought
from M&s was now defrosting we even told the manager that also but
he was not listening ...I intend to make a complaint as I did not recieve
good customer care at all...my children then saw an assistant putting
back the shopping we had bought 40 minutes earlier in the shop !!! so
M&S Customers be aware the next time you eat fish think to yourself
how long has that been left out the freezer !!!!! Mrs.T.Hambly

I would just like to say that yesterday I and
my children went to Shoreham yesterday and decided to take back the
Marks and Spencer dress that my husband had bought me
which seemed to have caused so much trouble in the Brighton Brance !!!!
I do have to say the quality of care that I recieved in the Shoreham
branch was some what wonderful I had no trouble at all in returning
this dress in the Shoreham branch and as the shop assistant rudly said
in Brighton I would have even if I took in my bank statement she was
very wrong the Manager also... they gave me a FULL REFUND......I would
just like to add that if any one higher is reading these emails PLEASE
CAll up some of your staff including the Manager with the earring and
tell them " No the customer is not always right" but on some
occasions they are, and they deserve to be treated with politness.
I have shopped in Marks and Spencers for many years but I can say now
they will not be getting anymore of my or my husbands money until I
get a proper apology from one of the staff members who rudly said to
the Manager in the Brighton branch " she has had the dress two
months" thats really doing the company good business advertising
the dress should only last two months when I wore it a few times ...
