My experience with Magazine City.net
was a horrible one. I like to share my story so you won't lose your
hard-earned money when dealing with this company. The magazine I
wanted at MagazineCity.net was Car and Driver.
I subscribed for it for one year for an international delivery
at $23.95 since I live in Asia, but I realized I could have gotten
the same magazine directly from Car and Driver (www.caranddriver.com)
for $19.97. To make things worse, MagazineCity.net recently raised
the price to $25.97.
But it is too late for lamenting - I can't cancel my order or get
a refund at MagazineCity.net while the folks at Car and Driver allows
you to do that anytime for whatever the reasons. MagazineCity.net
states, "All orders are fully cancelable as long as the cancel
request is received within 48 hours of the time the order is placed.
After that, in most cases cancellations will not be accepted."
This may work for customers who have mistakenly subscribed to wrong
magazines or those who want to cancel the orders altogether.
However, this doesn't apply to me. I like Car and Driver's magazines
dearly, thank you very much. It is just that MagazineCity.net's
service really STINKS! I placed my order on 17 April 01 and got
my first issue of Car and Driver (July issue) delivered on July
1st, which I deemed was acceptable for the first international delivery.
However, Magazine City.net somehow put incorrect shipping address
- it is a small wonder I got the magazine delivered at all. I immediately
used their "Online Customer Service Center" to fix this
problem, and haven't received any indication that they have addressed
the problem - no emails or whatever whatsoever. None of their emails
work either. Their 800 number means nothing to me because I am not
in US anymore. I am now getting this feeling that they are intentionally
ignoring me.
Now, I am having my eyes out waiting for the delivery of August
issue of Car and Driver which is overdue at the moment. Don't shop
at MagazineCity.net unless
you wanna be sorry as I am.
