RESOLVED

I changed from TXU Energi to Npower for my gas supplies last December 2001 & TXU Energi are still billing me.

They are also threatening me with demands every three months based on their standard gas tariff.

When I signed with Npower, I was assured by the representative that Npower would take care of all the details. So this is the situation I am in.

I have written to both companies and I am waiting for their response.

Mr Alan should without fail contact Energywatch. The editor was once in a similar situation with different energy companies. The matter was only resolved after I wrote a comprehensive letter with backing documents to EnergyWatch.

My parents have been retired over eight years but in all that time have been paying payment protection as part of they billing plan. I have talked on the phone to a Ms A P first to get in touch with the Insurance company, the Insurance company informed me that they was no circumstances that my parents could claim on this policy. I have written to txu they have not replied to my letter sent over rhree weeks ago. DAVID G SWAN ... 20 January 2004

To Txu. We have recently had a bill from you. It is sky high-£182, when usually the bills are around the £15-£20 mark. Why all off a sudden do we have a bill for this amount, especially when the house was empty from july to the middle of September.

Also we have just become aware that we never signed up to you, you just began supplying us. We have been in touch with energywatch and they advised us to contact you to ask for a copy of the contract. I will look forward to hearing from you on this matter.

We have just received a bill for £532.00 for gas for the past 18 months as they have never billed us before - they say it was a technical error but we must pay at least half up front, we have written to them asking for proof that we asked them to supply gas to us - but they still have not replied - why won't Mrs M Hill take our calls.

Last year a man came to read my meter and the bill I got following that was much larger than usual
so I assumed that since I had only had estimated bills before, then this was the balance. I am never home when the meterman calls so this year when I got an incredibly large bill I called to give them the correct reading only to be told the bill is even higher!! What it appears has transpired it that last year when the meter man read my meter NPower did not accept the reading as they thought it was quite high.

It never crossed their minds to call me to find out why it is so high so I have gone on another year oblivious to the fact that for the last two years I may be paying well over the odds. I was never given the opportunity to find out if my gas system was faulty. Should it not be standard practice to inform someone if their gas consumption appears to be excessive. It should be standard practice but not exactly in their best interest!!

Can anyone tell me whether they feel that a bill of £1200 for the last two years might be a bit excessive for a single occupant household. Two bedroomed double glazed first floor flat where the heating is actually only on for about 7-9 hours per day in the winter months and then off in the summer, and to top it all a gas hob that is rarely used. Am I imagining that this is a tad excessive or do other peoples bills also equate to this. I would love someone to give me some advice because when I have called NPower the only help that they have offered is to pay the outstanding £700 off by direct debit over the next two years. I don't think that this is enough. Am I wrong in thinking this??
