I am responding on behalf of Saab Finance with regard to Mr Haywood's complaint about the handling and processing of his direct debit payments when he purchased a Saab vehicle in October 2001.

This is a very regrettable situation and Mr Haywood's case has been investigated .

I bought a car on finance in October 2001.

The finance company has never successfully been able to take my payments up to Nov 03. I have now lost count of the number of direct debits that I have filled in. Saab never take the monthly payment. Never have, funds have always been available and I have checked with my bank and they confirm that it is possible to take ok. As all my other bills are successful this way. I have sent a cheque issued manually on the account each month. Because they claim that it is always late they apply late charges. I have written letters and made endless phone calls every month, just asked to fill in new direct debit but to no avail.

In November this year I decided to cancell my agreement under the consumer credit act ie half of all payments had been made and completely fed up with whole thing and overcharged. No one could be bothered to help. Car now gone back. Terrible company to do business with.

Have now discovered they have sent bad reference to credit ref agency. Claiming all my fault bad payer etc: I am absolutely fuming because it prevents me from obtaining finance on any other vechicle. I have been overcharged by hundreds of pounds. No one believes me. I think people should be warned about this activity never mind if I loose out but stop others having this problem. Suspect that there are loads of Saab Finance customers who have had similar experience am I right?
