I recently ported my mobile number (which I have had for 10 years) over to Orange. I then discovered that I was getting no service at my office, so I decided to cancel my contract under the 14 days return policy. However when I contacted orange they told me I could cancel my contract but they would not return my ported number.

I was told I would have to continue the 12 months contract if I wanted my number back. I have had to cancel, (under duress) as I didn't want to pay 12 months line rental to have my number back (nor should I have to!!).

Surely they should not be allowed to do this, when I first contacted orange I was not given this information nor can it be found in any advertising or other literature they provide.

I would like something done about this, even if you cannot have my number returned to me I hope you will be able to prevent them from doing this to anyone else, I was cut off twice whilst being put on hold, then basically told "we aren't willing to do anything to help"!!.

I have sent an email to Stuart Jackson of Orange for his comments and clarification on this matter. I will keep you posted of any response from Orange.
