MFI HAVE SPOILT OUR CHRISTMAS
After spending every day of the past six months doing our new
house up so it would be ready for xmas, we decided in October
to buy a table and chairs from MFI in St.Helens, merseyside. We
where informed it was in stock and we would get it on the 29th
Oct.
Prior to delivery I rang the delivery info line and was told it
was due for delivery on the afternoon of the 29th. I waited in
and received a phone call from the driver and was told that the
table was ready to be delivered but there where no chairs on the
van. The chairs where out of stock and I was asked if their call
center had informed us of this. They hadnt.
The driver asked if we still wanted the table delivered, the chairs
would follow sometime later, I said no, I wanted them delivered
together.
The call center then called me to tell me that the chairs would
not be delivered until February of 2004 and do I still want them.
I cancelled the order and then started to look around for another
table and chairs.
On the 7th November I reluctantly went back to MFI in Speke, liverpool
to see what they had in stock and we found another table and chairs.
I asked if it was in stock and we where told it was. I mentioned
that we had been told this before but we where assured it was
in stock and we would get it on the 11/12/03. As it was getting
near to xmas and where desperate we paid the money.
A couple of weeks prior to the delivery I noticed on MFI's website
that the said table and chairs where on delayed delivery. I could
not believe it so rang them up. They confirmed it was delayed
but as we had already ordered ours it was better to wait 48 hours
before the delivery day to see if it was going to be delayed and
whether it was worth cancelling the order. This was getting beyond
a joke, they hadnt even bothered to let us know, I had to find
out via their website.
On the 8/11/03 I rang the delivery hotline and a recorded message
informed me that the item was going to be delivered on the afternoon
of the 11/12/03 between 1pm and 7.30pm. great I thought. I rang
again on the 9/12/03 and the 10/12 and the message was still the
same.
On the afternoon of the 10th I received a phone call from MFI.
The caller said that she was just ringing to inform me that the
table and chairs we ordered would not be delivered on the 11th
as promised but it would be delivered when back in stock in February
of 2004.
I couldnt believe it we where desperate for a table and chairs
for xmas and they do this to us and totally spoil everything.
Once again we cancelled the order and swore that we would never
shop in MFI again.

=================================
On 18th Novemeber, 2003 I purchased
a Colony Computer desk - this was to have been an integral part
of a Christmas present. It was duly delivered, as
promised, on the 9th of December, but on unpacking it the following
day I found that the main top was damaged.
On contacting the Customer Service line I was initially offered
20 discount to accept the damaged part; when I declined I was promised
a replacement "by the 18th of December at the very latest"
- I explained that this was part of a Xmas present and would appreciate
any assistance in receiving it earlier.
The 18th came - and went - and no replacement so I again contacted
the Customer Service line. The young lady apologised and then put
me on hold "whilst she checked further". On her return
she said the part was "en route and would be with me in a couple
of days". I stressed that if it wasn't here by the Monday (the
22nd) I would like a refund. The representative said this "shouldn't
be a problem".
Today the 22nd - and still without a replacement I again phoned
the Customer Service to be told that the part was out of stock and
would not be available until earlier next year. The representative
said the "screen was showing this fact" - in other words
it had not been a recent update. At this point I said I would like
a full refund to enable me to go elsewhere in time for Christmas.
Not possible - a rebate can only be given at the store - and guess
what - they're now closed until Boxing Day!!!
I can except that damage can occur; I can except that items go out
of stock. I cannot except being lied to in order to negate my ability
to obtain a refund.
This is diliberate and shoddy business practice and one MFI should
be very ashamed of!!!!! Richard Catchpole .. 22 December

After submitting this complaint and vowing
never to buy from MFI again, I bowed under the pressure of a sale
item. Again a table and chairs, you see we still
have yet to get one after MFI letting us down. I paid online through
their website and I was given a date of delivery.
Two days prior to delivery , yes you guessed it MFI rang to tell
me that the table was out of stock and I would be getting the chairs
only and the table would follow the following friday.
Here we go again.
I rang MFI and told them that I did not want the chairs but I wanted
the whole set delivered together on the following friday. I was
informed that if I did not take delivery of the chairs then I may
not get the chairs with the table as they may not be in stock. After
being informed that the table would be delivered the following friday
I asked if this was guaranteed.
I was told to ring two days prior to see if it was going to be delivered.
Hang on they just told me it would be in stock, what are they playing
at? So again they are lying and trying to run rings around the customer
making false promises.
It would not surprise me if I had taken dleivery of the chairs then
I would have had to wait weeks and weeks for the table just like
other customers have. (watchdog) How the hell are they getting away
with it, this is the third time, how many customers are being treated
like this.
I hope MFI go down the pan but even that would be too good for them.
by the way I cancelled the order, they can stick it.
