Poor Service from Kitchen Magic after paying £7500 for
new kitchen
In May 2001 we had a kitchen fitted by Kitchen Magic. They arranged
to be with us for 1 week but rushed and left after 4 days before
installing the integrated washing machine and dishwasher and without
conecting the ignition for the hob.
When we paid for a private plumber to fit the integrated appliances
we were told that the plumbing under the sink needed urgent attention.
In addition to this 1 drawer and 1 cupboard needed replacing due
to damage whilst fitting and the dishwasher /washing machine doors
needed to be fitted.
We have since called Kitchen Magic on average once a week (apart
from during June when we were honeymooning) to try to arrange
for the plumbing and fitting.
They have never once called us back but we have been persistent.
August-surveyor sent to assess work
14/9/01 - engineer sent who "corrected !!!!" the plumbing
(now the waste from the washing machine comes up into the sink)and
fitted the doors incorrectly so that they are now both too short
and narrow.(He didn't know that the height on integrated appliances
could be adjusted)
17/9/01 - I phoned managing director of KM and was promised that
work would be completed within 5 days of next surveyors visit.
26/9/01 - surveyor sent to assess work
28/9/01 -I phoned managing director and was told that work could
not be done until 12/10/01 (not within the 5 days as originally
promised)
2/10/01 -I phoned KM and said that plumbing was becoming more
of a problem and we an engineer asap. We arranged for engineer
to call 5/10/01.
5/10/01 - I arrived home after taking the afternoon off and found
a message on the home answering phone saying engineer would not
be coming (my direct line work number was left with KM in case
there was a problem).I left a message for the MD to call me back.
Once again he has not returned my call.
From memory I would estimate that in total we have called Kitchen
Magic approx 30 times to get this matter resolved and have never
once been called back. The time and expense involved, both in
terms of days off and phonecalls has left me frustrated and angry
that I paid the full amount (£7,500)for the kitchen prior
to all of the work being completed.
A Right of Reply letter has
been issued.
=================================
COMPANY: KITCHEN MAGIC
We would also urge caution with this company - having told us the
job would take three days, they claimed to be done after just 1.5
days and demanded payment. Even a cursory glance showed up problems:
a scractched door, a fractured pelmet, 5 out of 6 corners were not
sqauare or aligned. The fitter (Nigel)refused to acknowldege the
problem and was quite rude. We refused to pay the balance. We left
messages on the KM answerphone and sent them a fax but never received
a response. Next day however, the fitter was back and replaced and
fixed everything to our satisfaction - again with no form of acknowledgement
or apology. SO BEWARE! Isabel, London... 6 January 2002

The experiences of Sam and Isabel
look so familiar.
We had replacement doors, drawer fronts and worktops fitted in February
2001. I made several calls to try to get a visit to fix problems.
A surveyor eventually arrived in May, but it took many more phone
calls to get the fitter to arrive in July, and two problems still
persisted afterwards..
