If you are an Orange mobile customer or know someone who is, please take note. After over 2 months of not receiving text messages from anyone on an Orange phone ('coincidentally' ever since the mobile number change at the end of April) and after many calls to 121 (my mobile network), in which they kept saying that it was a problem with Orange's network,
Orange have finally admitted it is their problem and they are 'working on it'. It doesn't affect all 121 phones, it's just Orange's network can't access certain numbers.

I can send messages to Orange customers and I can receive from all other networks.
You can give them my number 079XX XXXXXX as an example of a phone that doesn't receive text messages. The Customer Service Dept have been telling thier customers that it's 121's fault, but don't be fobbed off by this (this is what they have been told to say). My friend, Chris Johnston 079XX XXXXXX, who is a long-suffering Orange user, has had confirmation from the Engineer Department at Orange that it is their problem.

HOW LONG DO THEY NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!

My work (not to mention social life!) has been affected by this. I work freelance and a lot of my colleagues are on Orange. We cannot send work info by text message any more. Help! and Thank-you. Maggie Brierley

For many of us, the future can't be Orange at this rate! Thank you Maggie for informing the Consumers Complaint List. A letter is going out to Orange. Please use the Comment form to tell us of your own experiences with Orange.

update 7 August 2001
Ms Brierley has confirmed that the problem is now resolved. Oddly enough, Orange still insist that it was a one2one problem. See the Right of Reply box
