We complained in writing to Mr. Long, Customer Assistance Centre, Brentwood on 17 April 2001. The complaint was to notify them of a major safety problem relating to the Ford Ranger Double Cab we bought in November 2000.

The wing mirrors on both sides of the vehicle spray up badly when driving in heavy rain and wind. This obscures the rear view through the mirrors and impairs vision as the water stays on the glass and does not
disperse. As driving continues the problem increases. When driving at night, the problem becomes even more serious, causing a real safety hazard to the drivers,
passengers, and other motorists.

The problem has occurred on numerous occasions since we purchased the vehicle. The dealer is unable to help, it was the dealer who suggested we write to the
Customer Assistance Department Direct.

We had a reply on 25th April from an entirely different address in Glasgow, not the Manager of Customer Assistance Centre at Brentwood. The reply stated that the Technical Information Centre "have advised
that there is no known concern with the mirrors on this vehicle" and that "the mirrors are standard and no modification can be made to them". Other comments were

"regret that we have not met your expectations and are unable to satisfy your needs on this occasion".

They did say the comments had been taken on board and would be passed to the Brand Manager of the Ranger. Unfortunately none of this helps us at all.

We do not want to sell the vehicle, we simply want to have a vehicle that is safe to drive in wet, windy conditions and at night in the rain.

  Editorial Comments

Mr & Mrs Vellam state that they spent £18,000+ on this model. Obviously, they have expressed what they believe to be real problem with this vehicle. We are yet to be persuaded that Ford Motors has shown due concern and attention to the matter. Was the Vellam's vehicle called in for tests before the standard answer: "there is no known concern with the mirrors on this vehicle."?

A Right of reply letter has been issued to Ford notifying them of this posting and requesting a response. EDITOR

update on 28 August 2001
Feedback received from the Vellams indicate that Ford has contacted them. Unfortunately, nothing has come out of it. They still feel that there is an issue not addressed by Ford.
"We did hear back from them but unfortunately did not deal with the issue and gave us nothing new. Anything else we can do?"

My 6 month old F150 Sport will not start in the cold.
Its seems the computer inside has difficulty processing information in temps below freezing. I have had little help from Grappone ford NH where I purchased the vehicle. I wonder how they maintain the Blue Oval seal of approval? I love the truck but this is really too much..

I had a 2002 Ford Mustang that would die in the middle of the highway. It's brakes and steering would lock up. I tried to talk to the owner and the customer service rep., but they blew me off and cussed me out. If I can I will stop anyone from buying from this company. they are the worst people and customer service oriented people that I have ever dealt with. Heather Jones (Dallas, USA) ... 30 May 2003

Could you please help me. i,v bought a brand new ford mondeo sa 03 wkf. i,v had the car for six months now and all i,v had is bother with it.
in all honesty the car has been back at ford about six or seven times for repairs.each time it goes in it has to have new parts fitted due to manufacturing faults so the manager at ford livingston says.

the latest thing to go wrong is the clutch had to be repaced as there is a fault with the fly wheel.it took ford two days to repair this fault.it been less than a week and the car has now got the same fault with the clutch again.the garage at burnvale livingston has given me every excuse they can think of as regards to why all these faults are occuring.but the way i see it this car is brand new and should never need all the parts or all the work that has been done to it.

can you please help me as i,am at my witts end with this car and the garage that is suppose to be repairing it.i have only told you of one fault as i would be here all day if i was to tell you of the others.please help me in this matter.and do i have any rights in demanding a replacement car as this car isnt a good built car. donald martin ... 15 October 2003
