Bought dishwasher from comet at their bangor store N Wales.

Machine was only 4 mths old when it developed a fault engineer was sent out to fix it but had to order the parts new motor and pump, eventualy after 3 weeks it was fixed. Engineer did not check and when I put it on and went to sit down I could hear the sound of water still running. Returned to the kitchen to find the whole floor flooded. Contacted Comet again and was told that the engineer could not return for three days.

I insisted that he returned that day and eventually he did return and told me that he would have to order the parts again and tried to repair the crack (that was not there before) with silicone and I said that that was not acceptable. Eventually after several more weeks I recieved a letter saying that the line had been discontinued and the machine was scrapped. I was told to get a replacement which comet wanted an extra £2 for.

I demanded my money back and claimed for damages due to negligence by their representative after many phone calls they decided to send someone to look at the floor and he was totally disgusted with the damage caused. It was the letter to their managing director that prompted this action.

I was told to send two estimates which I did and which was confirmed by email by their response team .But customer service did not know anything about it until I threatened them with court action when they contacted me and said that could not find the estimates and could I forward two more.

I have had all the excuses you could think of. I wonder what would happen if someone vulnerable had this problem.

"Thank you for placing my complaint on the web.
recived e mail from comet resonse team asking for me if i had sent two more estimates on 24 10 02 but before that on the 10 oct I recived a compensation advice form confirming that payment of £289 would be dispatched within 10 working days.

Phoned comet services on the number given by comet response team to see where my money was and was told that they did not have any record of my claim and I replied that I had a agreement by comet and was told to hold and was waiting on the phone for 30 minutes and I have yet to hear from them.

I have sent a e mail tonight 24 oct stating that if I do not recive payment by them by midday tuesday the 29 oct I will have no alternative but to commence county court proccedings against them IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE Thanks once more for your help..."

Hello. I just want to say that Comet Group Plc do not seem to learn there lesson. I may be the one to teach them. It concerns me that if you do not know your rights ot the law, that this Corporate can get away with. Well done for sticking it out. I aim to take Comet to court for selling me a Cooker that was damaged during installation. But it did not stop there, they have made numerous allegations against my character and tried to huniliate me in front of store customers!

Well done Mr Baden,
Comet don't have any customer care what so ever. They have had my money for over a month now and they have now said they are not going to be suppling the goods as they are faulty, I have requested that I get a copy of the report and was told by Alison W that they are no way I would be getting to see this.

Trading Standards will now look into the matter and also I will be contacting my solictor to persue the matter for compensation

Mr Baden,
Damage during installation? Surely you have to sign that the install was OK? Am I wrong on this and if not, why did you sign? Sounds a little strange to me? Mr Peters..23 December 2002
