Auction World is a shopping channel on Sky where you bid
for items.
We purchased a Tredex DVD player for £95 plus £7
p&p.
The DVD player arrived in good time, but cosmetically there is
a foreign object on the inside of the display screen and having
connected the player up we cannot get a clear picture - nowhere
near the quality that you should get from a DVD player and not
even as good as the traditional video. There are lines running
down the screen and shadowy outlines around all the objects on
the screen. We have followed the manual and have changed the settings
to no avail. Our television is only a couple of months old and
from a very new range. We already have one DVD player so we know
it is not our television that is at fault.
Having phoned Auction World they firstly tell us that we have
to contact Tredex about the problem. This we did - Tredex wanted
us to pay the P&P to return the item for repair. Having considered
this we felt our contract was with Auction World and we were not
prepared to enter into a situation where we were dealing with
the manufacturer rather than the supplier.
We rang Auction World again who are not very helpful. Again saying
that we would have to pay p&p for the item to be returned
to them. At this point we had had enough and said that we would
prefer a refund.
The representative at Auction World said that she would put the
request through, took our e-mail address and phone number and
said that we should hear from someone. That was over a week ago.
We have phoned Auction World again on Monday of this week. They
said all they could do was put another request through for an
e-mail to be sent to us. We asked if we could have an e-mail address
so that we could send in our complaint. We were given the name
of the Customer Services Manager, and e-mailed details through
to him immediately.
It is now two days since we sent that e-mail and almost 2 weeks
since our initial contact with them to say the DVD player did
not work properly.
We certainly get the feeling that as they are only contactable
by phone or e-mail they can simply ignore us. At least with a
high street store you can go in and kick up a fuss.
